台大醫學院生化分生所助理教授林育誼、美國約翰霍普金斯大學研究人員合組的跨國團隊,共同發表這項突破性基因功能篩檢技術,解開了生物細胞老化的謎團。9日出刊的國際知名雜誌「Nature」,也刊登了這項突破性發展。

「細胞要維持像太極一樣的動態平衡,才會充滿活力」,林育誼說,細胞的平衡被破壞了,就會發生惡性腫瘤等代謝症候群。影響細胞動態平衡的是「乙醯酶」和「去乙醯酶」兩者作用的消長。「乙醯酶」和「去乙醯酶」兩者平衡時,細胞就充滿能量和活力,但假如乙醯酶作用較大時,便會造成細胞老化和疾病。
